Free help first: the Dallas Financial Empowerment Center
Before you pay anybody, know this. The City of Dallas Financial Empowerment Center, run with International Rescue Committee Dallas, says it provides free access to a personal professional financial coach. The topics on the city's page include getting out of debt and working on your credit.
You sign up through a referral form on the city's page. A counselor then contacts you to set up an in-person or virtual meeting. That is a real free option. If you want a crew to work the disputes for you, that is where we come in.
Buying in Dallas? Know DHAP.
The Dallas Homebuyer Assistance Program, called DHAP, helps low- and moderate-income buyers with down payment and closing costs on homes inside Dallas city limits. The city says that since May 1, 2026, Business and Community Lenders of Texas (BCL of Texas) runs it.
BCL of Texas lists up to $60,000 in High Opportunity Areas and up to $50,000 in other eligible Dallas areas. You need a DHAP lender to qualify you, a signed purchase contract, and a homebuyer education certificate from a DHAP provider. Assistance depends on eligibility review and available funds. The city says the Targeted Occupations extension has spent all its funding.
Neither page lists a minimum credit score. The mortgage lender still pulls your report, and that is the part we can help with. Questions on the program go to BCL of Texas at (214) 919-1866 or dhap@bcloftexas.org.

Sued over a debt in Dallas County?
Dallas County has ten Justice of the Peace courts, 1-1 through 5-2, and posts a map tool to find your district. County court pages say a debt claim case can be for no more than $20,000, not counting statutory interest and court costs.
Your answer is due 14 days after you are served, per TexasLawHelp.org, and filing it is free. If you do not respond, the other side can ask for a default judgment. We are not a law firm. Get legal help on the lawsuit, then call us about the report.

What we can and can't do
We can read every line of all three reports with you. We can dispute the items that look inaccurate, outdated, or unverifiable, and follow up round after round. We can walk you toward business credit when you are ready.
We can't promise a score. We can't make accurate, current information go away. We are not a law firm and we do not give legal advice. We are not a lender, and we do not decide who gets a loan. Results vary.
Federal law gives you three business days after you sign a credit repair contract to cancel it, without penalty or obligation.

Questions from Dallas
You're in Fort Worth. Why would I use you in Dallas?
The work happens on the phone, on video and in writing to the bureaus. Distance does not change a dispute. If you would rather try a free city coach first, do it.
Can I work on my report while I go through DHAP?
Yes. We can dispute errors while you take your homebuyer class. Whether you qualify is up to the lender and the program, not us.
Can you guarantee results?
No. Results vary.
Bad credit is a cage. It was never a life sentence.
